If Bad Weather Makes it Tough to Keep Your Appointment

Friday, February 5th, 2010

We’ve had a pretty mild winter – but this weekend storm may prove to be a difficult time to manage roads in our area.  As our most important decision is the well being of our patients – we want to make sure everyone understands what our “policy” for appointments during bad weather…

1) If you are unable to safely drive and keep your appointment – please just contact our office at the earliest time to reschedule.

2) Our office plans to be open at all times we have patients scheduled – unless the road conditions are determined to be unsafe and the county restricts driving.

3) Some patients may live closer to the office and not encounter difficulties, however, some of our staff have to drive a further distance and could make reporting to the office difficult or unsafe.

We appreciate your understanding during the times of inclement weather as well as our being understanding for your situation during the same.  If our office is CLOSED due to weather we will contact patients who leave messages at the next scheduled day of business.  Remember – if you have a Patient Emergency – contact our office or emergency cell phones so that we can do our best to ensure patient comfort.

How Does Orthodontic Insurance Work?

Friday, October 10th, 2008

As a standard rule, Orthodontic Coverage is a special coverage that may or may not be included with your Dental Plan.  It is usually a separate benefit to the General Dentistry coverage and the benefits are typical to be 50% of cost UP TO a Lifetime Max.  Each plan max is different and can be as little as $500 up to as much as $3000 (in our year’s of experience this is what we’ve seen.) OrthoCad 3-D Video

Friday, October 10th, 2008

If you wonder what we do with those impressions we take of your teeth – here’s a sample of a 3-D Model and see how this technique can better assist Dr Khan with your treatment plan!  morphing-video-front-side

As part of your Records appointment, we will take impressions of your teeth and then have prepared a set of models of your teeth.  These models are then digitally stored and transferred back to our office for Dr Khan’s review and final acceptance.  Digital models help us to be able to maintain your initial records for consideration during your orthodontic treatment.  A completed set of models will also be taken and stored once your treatment is finished.

“Consultation” – Your First Step

Monday, September 1st, 2008
At the first visit to the orthodontist, New Patient Consultation, a diagnosis is made to determine the best course of treatment with a complete medical/dental history and clinical examination. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care. Typically we ask for patient’s to arrive 10-15 minutes before their scheduled appointment time so that we can meet and discuss the personal information needed to setup their account (insurance, employer, etc.) We strive to keep our office PAPERLESS to help our environment, reduce waste and provide better service to our patients. Please allow 45 minutes – 1 hour for this first appointment. If you are ready to get started – we can move right into the next step or schedule you for Records at another time.

“Records” – Your Second Step

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Complete diagnostic records can be taken at the same time as your consultation if you would like or at a separate, second visit. Records include making a plaster study model of the teeth, taking photos of the patients face and teeth, and panoramic / cephalometric x-rays. After the doctor has evaluated your records, we discuss your specific treatment with you in detail, including the cost for your particular case.

“Banding” – Your Third Step

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Typically, once the Records have been taken and your decision to move forward with treatment is made, we will schedule a Banding Appointment. Depending on the type of treatment (single arch, limited or full treatment with both arches) – the length of your banding appointment will vary from 45 minutes to 1-1/2 hours.  This appointment is when the brackets are placed on the teeth and while no invasive steps are necessary, patient’s may be tender after their appointment.  EVERYONE is different though, some patients experience only minor soreness and can eat a normal diet; others experience more tenderness and may want to only eat soft foods.  Your mouth will adjust and in just a matter of time the braces will be a part of your “normal” routine.

Appointment Cancellation Policy

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. Cancel only if it is an emergency. It is difficult to reschedule you since most appointments are made 4 to 8 weeks in advance. Repeated offenses can result in additional fees, longer than expected treatment time and / or the termination of treatment.

Periodic Appointments

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008
Periodic or Regular Appointments are the appointments we’ll schedule to see us at regular intervals (usually4 to 8 weeks apart) for an adjustment, which takes about 20 minutes. Technology has helped to increase the length of time between appointments – but it is very important that you make every effort to keep those regular appointment intervals – extending beyond the desired time can lengthen your overall treatment plan – and nobody wants that – right?
